Village Development Discussion at Kolitmara
Project Info
In November 2022, representatives from Kiran Foundation Trust visited Kolitmara, an eco-sensitive village situated within the Pench Tiger Reserve region in Nagpur district. Communities located near protected forest zones face unique socio-economic conditions, where local development must be balanced with biodiversity conservation and forest regulations.
To address these distinct dynamics, Kiran Foundation Trust organized interactive discussions directly with the local villagers to establish a ground-level understanding of their daily challenges and aspirations.

Key Focus Areas of the Discussion
The interactive session provided a collaborative platform for villagers, local leaders, and our team to openly map out community priorities and explore practical solutions:
Identifying Local Challenges: Engaging in structured dialogue to pinpoint pressing issues related to livelihood opportunities, basic infrastructure, education, and healthcare access.
Understanding Community Needs: Listening to the voices of local families to ensure that future intervention programs align directly with their ground realities.
Exploring Sustainable Solutions: Brainstorming community-led initiatives that promote eco-friendly economic growth, resource management, and long-term welfare without compromising the delicate forest ecosystem.
Building Ground-Up Solutions
At Kiran Foundation Trust, we believe that sustainable village development begins with inclusive planning. By involving the residents of Kolitmara from the initial consultation stage, we ensure that every community project is rooted in local trust, active participation, and shared ownership.
This consultation serves as the foundation for designing targeted development strategies that uplift forest-fringe communities while supporting eco-conscious growth.
